Around the Web in 80 days-CARM

It’s Sunday, so lets delve into the world of CARM

Here is a quick recap of CARM

What is CARM?

CARM stands for the Christian Apologetics Research Ministry.  It is an apologetics/theology/anti-cult/anti-occult ministry run by Rev. Matt Slick.  He addresses and defends Christian doctrine; furthermore he explains other doctrines that are contrary to the Christian faith and why.

Why Should I Care?

Faith is a very important subject.  Where we come from, why we are here, and where we are going when we die are issues that are crucial to both the individual and society as a whole.

Understanding more about your own faith and learning about religions outside your own will help you not only garner a deeper understanding of your own faith but it will also help you converse with those who are outside it.

Cult and Occult are Different?

Yes, they are.  In relation to Christianity: (From CARM)

Cult…In the context of Christianity, and in particular, CARM, it is a group that uses the Bible but distorts the doctrines that affect salvation sufficiently to cause salvation to be unattainable…

And the Occult

Occult means "hidden". It covers practices that are not approved of by God e.g., astrology (Isaiah 47:13), casting spells (Deut. 18:11), consulting with spirits (Deut. 18:11), magic (Gen. 41:8), sorcery (Exodus. 22:18), witchcraft (Deut. 18:10), and spiritism (Deut. 18:11).
Occult practices such as Ouija boards, tarot cards, Wicca, astrology charts, contacting the dead, séances, etc. are to be avoided by the Christian and Jews alike.

Why Should I Trust Matt Slick?

You shouldn’t.  As with anything else, you should look up and check up on what he has to say.  Check The Bible, check his sources, etc… I have and I can tell you that his sources thus far have been accurate.

This Matt Guy is a Jerk…

I admit, Rev. Slick comes on very strong.  I do believe his motives are pure and his sources are accurate, but his personality can be a bit haughty, especially if you believe in one of the cults he speaks against.  All I can say is listen to what he has to say, ignore the haughtiness and just do the research.

In Conclusion

This is a great site for learning more about true Christianity.  I once again urge you to do the research, don’t just take one websites word for it.  I think you will find that if you truly seek the Truth…you will find it.

Until Next Time…
