*Adapted from a sermon entitled “How to overcome inferiority and low self-esteem” from the series “Breaking Through Life’s Biggest Barriers”…see part 1.
You have 168 hours every week. After calculating for eight hours of sleep every night, you have 112 hours of waking hours per week. In order to see yourself the way you really are you have to spend time looking into the mirror of God’s Word to see the truth. (Romans 10:17) …in other words, you must learn what God’s word has to say about you and believe that it is true.
Once you begin to spend time in God’s word, you will begin to see a renewing of your mind. You will start to see a marked change in both your thinking and your self-image once you begin to think more like God. (Romans 12:2)
But hearing and reading the Word is not enough…you must develop a plan of action. (James 1:22-24) You must discover the you that’s true.
You discover the true you by doing the following five things:
-
Unwrapping your spiritual gift (1 Cor. 12; Rom 12)
-
Unleashing your spiritual passion (Ps 37:4)
-
Using your God-given talents (Ex 31:3)
-
Embracing your God-given personality (1 Cor 2:11)
-
Leveraging your past experience (Rom 8:28)
The bottom line is that until you get involved in helping others…ministering to others…meeting the needs of others…loving others…you will never feel fully loved yourself. If you want a friend…be a friend; if you want to feel loved and be loved…show love to others.
Look into the mirror of truth and see yourself for who you really are…an original masterpiece. (click to open video).
