Bible 365-Day 5-Evening

Gen 9:18-11

This section of Genesis covers life after the flood, several genealogies, and the Tower of Babel.  Some interesting notes:

The reason Noah cursed Canaan was not just because Ham (Canaan’s father) saw Noah naked, but it was because Ham didn’t do anything to help, and in fact Ham tried to dishonor Noah further by having his two brother’s go and see him.  They of course, grabbed clothing and walked in backwards to cover their drunk father. Most of Ham’s descendant's were enemies of Israel.

JM notes that in Ch. 11, the reason God caused the confusion of tongues was not simply because they were trying to build a tower, but because they were not spreading across the whole earth as He had commanded.  God was not pleased with them just settling in one area and then stopping, so he caused the confusion of the tongues to force them to settle amongst those who had a similar tongue.
