Gen 7-9:17
This section covers the flood, the end of the flood and the rainbow covenant. Some interesting notes on this section:
Noah was 600 years old when the flood occurred; according to the time frame laid out in this section, Noah was on the Ark just under a year. The Bible also makes it clear that every living thing not on the ark died, including plants, animals and people. The water rose well above the highest mountain.
It is also believed by JM that this is the end of the canopy of water that protected man from the UV rays of the sun, and the beginning of the weather cycle we know today (which includes rain, thunderstorms, etc…)
In Gen 9, God promises never to flood the earth again as He did in Noah’s day. It is implied from the text that He is referring to a global flood, not localized flooding.
