Bible 365-Day 13-Morning

Matthew 8:23-9:13

Like a hot cup of coffee, I wish you good morning.  Today’s lucky day 13;  Matthew 8:23-9:13 covers Jesus calming the sea, casting out demons, forgiving and healing a paralytic, calling Matthew, and eating with sinners.  Here a few quick points of interest:

When Christ caused the sea to be still, it showed both His deity and His humanity; He was so tired that even the fierce waves of the tempest did not wake Him, yet when the disciples did finally interrupt his slumber He was able to calm the storm with but a word.

The demons seemed to not only know Jesus, but were aware that He would one day judge them at the appointed time; furthermore, they knew He had the authority to cast them to a place much worse than where they were, it was obviously such a bad place that they would rather be cast into some pigs.  Another note on this set of verses is that since pigs were considered an unclean animal by the Jews, Christ was most likely in a Gentile dominated region; moreover, they were most likely deep rooted sinners since in v. 34 they implore Him to leave.

Christ makes a famous statement regarding the sick and a doctor in v. 12 of chapter 9.
