Porn-Chapter 1- “It’s just sex”

"What's the big deal, it's just sex? I would rather my kids watch two people make love than send them off to war like you"

So, what is the big deal about pornography? After all, it is just sex, right? Sex is a natural, normal, God created (not too mention incredibly fun) activity, right? So, why make such a big fuss over it? Well, there are a few reasons why we, as a society, need to keep an eye on this industry, because they are selling a whole lot more than just sex. Please note I am not, nor will I ever, advocate the complete censorship of pornography. I am, however, all for pointing out the truth regarding this industry.

Firstly, they aren’t selling sex, they are selling a drug. No, I didn’t mistype anything, pornographers are drug dealers and consumers are the junkies. There have been numerous studies done ( http://bit.ly/QCFUp this being the abstract of one ) that show when a subject views pornography their brain releases chemicals (dopamine for instance) into their body causing a temporal euphoric feeling. Couple this euphoric feeling with the natural physical pleasures associated with masturbation and orgasm and you have a high comparable with that of cocaine.

Secondly, just like drugs, eventually your body will begin to get used to this feeling and need more to satisfy itself. You will need more porn, more often and more extreme content to keep up with your desires. Print porn will no longer satisfy you, now you will need solo girls on video. Then onto softcore, hardcore, and extreme content to keep up with your joneses. You begin delving into areas that are way outside the bounds of normalcy. Now granted, there will always be a group of people who consider anything normal, but that doesn’t change the fact that there is a healthy view of sexuality and an unhealthy view of sexuality. I will delve more into that in Chapter 2- “Models-Humans or Objects”?

Finally, the so-called “just sex” displayed on the computer monitors of the average porn consumer is not the type of sex that most couples participate in. It is a distorted to say the least. Again, this will be delved into in the next post.

Be advised, the next chapter will be very explicit.
