Ch 2.-Models-Objects or Humans

So, seems a bit daft to be discussing something so axiomatic, right? We all know of course that adult film actresses are indeed human. True, but this post will focus more on perception and treatment, not actualities.

In order to truly examine this world we call pornography, we must dissect it. Although there are hundreds of niches within porn, if we were to give it a rough chop, we would find 4 main “Kingdoms” “Solo, Softcore, Hardcore, and Extreme”. Each one of these has a Phylum, Class, etc… but for now, let us stick with these four. Now, we must define each one so we know what they mean for those not versed in the porn lingo.

-------EXPLICT---------

Solo
Any movie or print that involves a solo nude or semi-nude model. She (this series will focus on straight porn, hence "She") does not participate in any penetrable sexual activities
Softcore
Model is nude or semi-nude and may participate in sexual activity, but penetration is not shown to the viewer, only implied
Hardcore
Model is nude or semi-nude. Penetration and/or ejaculation is shown. The sex may be slightly aggressive or soft, but nothing too far out of the ordinary is portrayed
Extreme
Model is nude or semi-nude. Anything goes. Group Sex, extreme oral sex (aka "Deepthroats or Gaggers"), anal sex, bondage, verbal and physical abuse, eroticized urination, etc... This genre is far outside the bounds of what most people consider normal, yet it is the most common style of porn made on the internet today.

No matter what the genre, most models have one thread in common, they need money fast. Most webmasters/producers/photogs also have one thing in common, they need money. Porn, like most everything else American, is a consumer driven business that is all about the green. The problem is, when human beings become the “product” people tend to loose sight of their soul and humanity.

There are many testimonies of former models and talent online, Shelly Lubben, XXX Church, Dawson Miller aka Justine, you can check these out at your leisure. One thing that most former models say is “It was all an act, I wasn’t having a good time at all. Having a bunch of men degrade you on camera is something you never fully get over” They speak of how they felt worthless, used, and cheap.

Now, before I absolve them of all responsibility, yes, it was their choice to get into porn. They know this and they have to live with the consequences everyday.

One former model who went by the name Sierra Sinn spoke of how she would not be able to look in the mirror after doing a hardcore shoot because she would burst into tears. Another solo model said after she came home from doing her shoot she held her head in her hands and cried at the thought of what she had done. Next chapter “Been there” will focus mainly on former models in the industry while “Done That” will focus on things that current and former models were forced to do during their career.

The point I am making is this, you cannot fully separate sex from morality. You will either live with guilt or be forced to lie to yourself enough times until you believe it. We were created to make love, and sex and sexuality are only a part of the equation. Subtracting love and morality cause an unhealthy balance that can take years to repair. Models in this industry are indeed human, and when they try to sell themselves as objects, everyone gets hurt in the long run.
