I didn’t even have to do a search on Casey Anthony, as she was the top story on the Google News homepage with over 7,000 linking articles…
I am truly amazed and simply bewildered as to why certain stories get more attention than could ever be necessary whilst others get virtually none…why?
I believe, as I have said many times before, that the media, especially the twenty-four hour news networks, have a major slant towards sensationalism. It ceased, long ago, to be about information. Instead it has become a ratings game…what stories, what news is most amusing, entertaining and revenue generating.
It makes no difference whether you are a staunch conservative or a progressive liberal…whether you fancy Rachel or Bill, Keith or Sean, you are no being informed, you are being entertained; they are pandering to their demographic.
So, does this mean you can’t watch Fox and friends over a latte or Morning Joe over coffee and toast? Not at all, but just remember what you are watching…it sure ain’t news…
