“Would He?”–A response to Louis Farrakhan

“I’m gonna ask you a question.  Do you think God would give His only begotten Son for this World?…Just think…Look at the world you live in, how rotten it is.”
--Louis Farrakhan speaking at the American Clergyman Conference in May 2011

The blogs have been set ablaze with posts and comments concerning remarks Mr. Farrakhan made recently where he called President Obama a murderer and an assassin.  Mr. Farrakhan made it clear he made these comments for two main reasons:

  1. His (Louis F’s) personal friendship with embattled dictator Muammar Gaddafi and the current US policy on Libya.

  2. Mr. Farrakhan’s stance on the War on Terrorism, in Iraq and Afghanistan.

But what I want to focus on today is the question Mr. Farrakhan asked his listeners directly before he made his comments regarding the White House and the President.  He asked them if God would give His only Son (Jesus) to this world today…meaning the current world.

His tone and his following comment about the world being rotten indicates Mr. Farrakhan doesn’t believe God would.  I believe the Bible reads otherwise…Consider Romans 5:7-9 (NLT)

7 Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. 8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. 9 And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation.

God sent Christ to die for us while we were still sinners…aka enemies of God!!I  Isaiah tells us that there is nothing we could ever do for God that would earn us Salvation…it is a free gift of God because He is a merciful, loving God who is full of grace.

No matter how rotten you are or how rotten the world you live in, God still seeks you out and calls you to Himself.  Salvation is by faith in Christ alone…Solo Christo shall man be saved.

So, as to Mr. Farrakhan, I say…Yes, God would and did give His son to a rotten world… and I encourage you to get back to the basics as God desires a relationship with you as well…

Sola scriptura, Sola fide, Sola gratia, Solo Christo and especially Mr. Farrakhan…Soli Deo gloria!!!  Forever and ever…Amen!
