Around the Web in 80 Days-Khan Academy

“I be smart and stuff”…

dunce-cap

Free Education should never go to waste.

What Is Khan Academy?

Khan Academy is a free online Academy whose mission is to provide high quality education free of charge to anyone with internet access.  They have over 1800 video lectures on their website on a whole host of topics from Algebra to Economics to Biology.

Why Should I Care?

Well, if you or someone you know is looking to learn basic middle school, high school, and college-level concepts concerning science and math, you should check out this site.  If you are reviewing for your GRE’s and want to brush up on your math skills, you should check this site out.

If you want to learn more about the banking industry or the 2010 bailout, you should check out this site.  There are many other reasons you should visit this amazing (and did I mention free) academy, but if I have to talk you into getting a free education, then you are far beyond my help.

Do I Have to Register?

Nope, just visit the website and begin browsing their huge library of videos.  Ultra simple…mega awesome.

How Did You Discover Khan?

Google recently donated a few million dollars to them…and that is how it caught my attention.  I literally just watched my first two videos today (on some old Algebra concepts) and was blown away that such an amazing array of lectures are free.

Any Downsides?

Well, since these are pre-made lectures, you won’t have the opportunity to ask questions if you don’t understand a concept…but if you are devoted to truly understanding something…you will find ways to compliment the lectures on the website.  (hint: your local school or library might be a good place to start)

In Conclusion

For today’s conclusion, I will embed a sample video about Simple Equations (A basic Algebra concept)
