Let’s learn more about the Google Doodle

What Is Google Doodle?

Well, in a nutshell, Google Doodle is when Google changes its logo to something other than their standard logo.  For example on Canada Day (in Canada only) the Google Logo was changed to look similar to the Canadian Flag

Today (Sept 7th, 2010) if one visits Google they will notice a set of dynamic “bouncy balls” which you can move around just by shaking your browser window or moving your mouse over the Google Logo.

Why Should I Care

Well, sometimes Google does change their logo for unknown reasons, however, the overwhelming majority of the time it is to celebrate a historical event or holiday.  Normally if you click the logo when the latter is the case, it will search the web for terms related to that event.

It helps you learn a little about history.  It also helps you know why in the world Google’s logo looks so different on certain days.

Can I See Old Logos?

Yes you can, by visiting Google.Com/Logos you can check out some of the old Google Doodle logos.

Which is Your Favorite?

Umm…I have seen quite a few but I thought the most creative was the one from Father’s Day in 2005.  It is the one in the picture above.

In Conclusion

Not much else to say except now you know a little more about Google Logos.  Next time the logo looks a little funny to you, click the logo and see where it takes you…you might just learn something.

Until Next Time…
