Under the Bus…

A lot has been printed in the last few days regarding Carrie Prejan, the Christian beauty queen who had the audacity to declare that marriage should be between one man and one woman (when directly asked at a beauty pageant); never mind that the question itself was a loaded question aimed at her by a gay blogger by the name of Perez Hilton.

As most of you know by now, she took some topless photos and made a masturbation tape for her then boyfriend when she was seventeen years old.  Due to the fact that she was a beauty queen coupled with her Christianity, the blogosphere has had a field day with this whole scandal.  Going to BlogSearch and typing in “Carrie Prejan” gave me over 2 million results; most of which had to do with either her sex scandal or her answer to the gay marriage question.

What I find funny is the fact that everyone is asking her about the sex tape, but no one is asking about the boyfriend?  What kind of guy takes a tape of his girlfriend masturbating and turns it into TMZ for a quick buck?  How sad and lonely and pathetic does one have to be?  Yet no one is talking about him. (With the exception of the young turks, who do call him a “douchebag”)

Secondly, let’s give her the benefit of the doubt and take her at her word when she claims the name of Christ.  Where are her Christian defenders?  How come we can yell and scream about the things we don’t like, don’t agree with, yet when it comes to love, compassion and forgiveness, Christians shut up?

I am growing so tired of “the Christian right” shouting from the rooftops about banner issues (gay marriage, abortion, democrats, etc…) yet when given a chance to show the world what Christ was all about, (love, forgiveness, second chances, repentance, salvation, justification, sanctification, help, hope…) we are silent.

I, for one, have done things much worse than Carrie has and am thankful I had friends and loved ones around me to help me and guide me instead of throwing me under the bus.
