A quick note: My two cents on the whole Tucker Max madness. If you aren’t familiar with Tucker Max, he is a law school grad turned blogger/writer. He writes about…well, let me just give you the current opening line from his blog…(explicit)
My name is Tucker Max, and I am an as*hole. (censorship added)
I get excessively drunk at inappropriate times, disregard social norms, indulge every whim, ignore the consequences of my actions, mock idiots and posers, sleep with more women than is safe or reasonable, and just generally act like a raging dickhead.
But, I do contribute to humanity in one very important way. I share my adventures with the world. They are known as:
The Tucker Max Stories
He eventually wrote a book about his exploits entitled “I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell” which became a NYT bestseller. He got in a bit of a legal fiasco when he wrote (very explicitly) about his relationship with Miss. Vermont. They are now making a movie based on one of the short stories in his book.
My question to the so-called conservative public is: Why all the outrage? He is very open about who he is and what he likes to do. He is more devout in his hedonism than most Christians are in their pursuit of Christ. Why are we expecting secular men and women to behave like saints?
Is it Tucker we are upset about or are we upset that our brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, friends and co-workers are buying up his stuff like candy? I think it is the latter that truly bothers us. He shows us the truth about our society.
It just baffles me when people get upset that someone like Tucker becomes a best seller. The truth is, he just exposes what most people try and keep secret; Tucker Max is the standard and people like Mother Teresa are the exception. Why are still acting surprised every time we find this out?
