Soldier Killed / CBS Reporter Injured

Which Headline Would You Choose?

Firstly, let me proclaim: I am saddened that Cami McCormick was injured, however, I am speechless over this article at CBS News.

Firstly, the headline is “CBS Reporter Injured in Afghanistan”.  Okay, so how was she injured?  “The vehicle she was in was struck by a roadside bomb”.  Okay, so I presume there were soldiers with her, right?

Here is where I get a little upset:

An American soldier in the same vehicle was killed.

And that is it.  A soldier dies and he (or she)  gets nine words while a reporter is injured and she gets 383 words

I bet if that soldier had worked at Abu Gharib they would have found 374 more words for him or her. (we don’t even know the sex of the soldier, or name or rank or job or age)

I hope Cami makes a full recovery…and then does a story on the soldier that died.  Our soldiers deserve better than self-serving news outlets.
